The challenge
In Mali, many children grow up without a birth certificate, and therefore without civil status. Mobile court sessions regularise these situations directly in the field, a complex process involving associations, civil-status officers, magistrates and administrations, from collecting information to issuing the certificate after a supplementary judgment.
Our approach
Alongside CIVIPOL, which runs the project on behalf of PAECSIS (the Support Program for the Functioning of Civil Status and the implementation of a Secure Information System), we designed and built the audiencesforaines.ml platform.
Working agile, we listened to every stakeholder, associations, civil-status officers, magistrates and the CTDEC, to build a tool that truly fits the field: from request intake to judgment tracking and certificate issuance.
The results
In the pilot phase alone, the platform enabled the issuance of more than 5,000 birth certificates, securing the legal identity of thousands of children and laying the foundations for a reliable, digitised civil-status system.
